at Ladock Village Hall
Out of Retirement already!!
After probably the briefest possible spell away from auctioneering, I have decided that I cannot possibly desert the people of mid-Cornwall and leave them with nothing to do on auction Saturdays, and we will continue with a limited number of auction sales during 2014, resuming business at Ladock from April 26th!
To the many who have wished us well in our retirement we thank you for your good wishes. To those disappointed in the closure we say ‘please return to the auctions’ for they will be just as good as in the past, if not better. We intend maintaining quality entries and will have to reject boxes of china, glass, books, general ephemera, etc., with only the more select and interesting items being accepted. Please call us if you have any doubts about what we can take in. We will still carry out valuations and clearances. Our landline number is 01872 520185 at which we can be contacted most days during normal office hours but not on Sundays.
Already we have a fine selection of jewellery, gold & silverware entered for the April sale, which, together with some quality furniture and beautiful paintings, should make this another memorable day for clients and customers alike.
Following our last auction on Saturday, September 14th, several people came forward interested in taking over the business. However, none proved suitable since the operation of an auction room cannot be done on a part-time basis and, despite what many surmise, it does require a huge amount of preparation, knowledge and general hard work.
Please note there will be no auctions at Ladock in February or March.
Our sincere thanks to all those who came along to the Robin’s Song art auction held at the Merchant House Hotel in Truro on Sunday, November 3rd. Nearly £4,500 was raised for this magnificent plan to provide the Children’s Hospice with a wildlife garden for those with life threatening illnesses. Congratulations to Ian Griffiths, his family and friends, who worked so hard to secure so many original pieces for the auction. Please help this cause whenever you can in the future; apart from the habitat for wildlife in which to thrive, they will need bird feeders, nesting boxes and no doubt a ready supply of nuts and seeds.
With best wishes – Philip & Linda Buddell
