Out of Retirement already!!
After probably the briefest possible spell away from auctioneering, I have decided that I cannot possibly desert the people of mid-Cornwall and leave them with nothing to do on auction Saturdays, and we will continue with a limited number of auction sales during 2014, resuming business at Ladock from April 26th!
To the many who have wished us well in our retirement we thank you for your good wishes. To those disappointed in the closure we say ‘please return to the auctions’ for they will be just as good as in the past, if not better. We intend maintaining quality entries and will have to reject boxes of china, glass, books, general ephemera, etc., with only the more select and interesting items being accepted. Please call us if you have any doubts about what we can take in. We will still carry out valuations and clearances. Our landline number is 01872 520185 at which we can be contacted most days during normal office hours but not on Sundays.
Our thanks to all who attended the auction on Friday, April 11th at the Hendra Gallery in Lemon Street Market, when over £750 was raised for Truro Carnival Committee and some fine wines were up for tasting. Our next charity auction will be held at Truro Golf Club on Friday, September 26th following a golfing day organised byMark Holden in support of coronary care in Cornwall – some fantastic lots will be on offer so don’t miss this event!
We will be holding a special final clearance for Nigel Parriss and the House of Fabrics at Truro Town Hall on Saturday, August 9th. Nigel has decided to close the business following his move from Lemon Street a few weeks ago, and there will be a wide selection of fabrics, rugs, remnant bags, sample books and including about 1,000m of curtain materials + cushions, haberdashery, curtain tracks & poles, office equipment, etc. The sale will be on view from 9am and will commence at 10am. EVERYTHING MUST GO!!

For those of you new to our auction sales, our commission rates are the most competitive of any auction room in the west country. We charge vendors just 15%, with no VAT applicable. Additionally a £1 per lot administrative charge is deducted when we settle accounts two weeks following the auction. We try to get as much as possible publicised on our website which is attracting interest from throughout the world, including Australia and New Zealand!
